Photo/video permits at Abu Simbel, Pyramids, etc
Hi group,
I heard from a colleague recently that they are no longer charging a fee for
using cameras and video cameras at the Pyramids at Giza. Can anyone confirm
this? What are the current prices for video and photo permits at Abu Simbel
and the Egyptian Museum in Cairo?
Thanks for your help,
amy

It is possible things have changed, but at my last visit, about 1 1/2
years ago, there was no charge for photos of the pyramids, Sphinx, etc;
and one had to check his camera on entrance to the Egyptian Museum.

A year ago you needed a photo permit inside the Great Pyramid and also
inside the tombs on the West Bank of Luxor.
Generally, photo permits are needed to take pictures inside but not outside.

that's a first! there is no charge for photo's. you check your camera at
the entrance of the museum, but I've witnessed a few payoffs that allowed
for the camera to be overlooked,... someone is trying to pull a fast one on
you. you may have followers who show you things to photograph and then they
ask you for $. common courtesy for pics of people.
