Default Which African desert tribe would this possibly be?

Does anyone know what African desert tribe's male courtship ritual
involves the males wearing black lipstick and yellow face powder,
while flashing their teeth and rolling their eyes ?

Your description seems to match the Wodaabe or Bororo, a subgroup of the
Peul/Fulani/Foulbé. The ceremony featuring the makeup, eye-rolling and
teeth flashing is called Geerewol.

I have a small video on my computer that fits your description
and points to the Bororo tribe. Looks beautiful, actually.

I think you are referring to the Woodabe tribe. Visit my African photos
to check if this is what you are referring to. I have photos I took at
the male beauty contest mixed in with other African photos. They live in
the Sahel in Niger.

I forgot to mention that the Yellow face paint is for the male Charm
contest. For the Beauty contest they paint their faces Red. You can see
both types of contest at the site I gave.

Sadie,
Thank you for sharing such wonderful photos with us!
I realised it was the Woodabe tribe, having seen a documentary on
them some time ago. They are certainly a colourful tribe, particularly
the men.
