Really interesting article!

But it's no coincidence that most of my favourite Portuguese wines are from the cooler regions (Vinho Verde/Minho, Dao, Bairrada...).

Much of the Douro was always too hot really - ideal for port, but a struggle to keep freshness in table wines once they switched much of the focus in the 90s. Pinhao is, I think, at about 200m above sea level, whereas the major Spanish regions upriver are at 700 or 800m.

Had a really bad year with my vines. Seems pretty common. Wet Spring followed by high temperatures since.

You;re growing inland from Olhão, Mike? Must be tough! Not considering mangoes (or chirimoyas.... maybe a niche in the market there?!)
