Uk to Lisbon Passport Control E-gates
Hi,
Shortly will be flying London to Lisbon with all the various Covid stuff sorted.
Previously, before 1st January 2021, at Lisbon passport control I have just used an E-gate for entry rather than queuing up to show my passport.
Given that we are not in the EU plus the Covid machinations, I assume that we will have to join the, usually long, queue for passport control & Covid control. Can anyone please confirm - I am pretty sure we will have to but am an optimist at heart!
Also, I have a temporary Portuguese residency certificate & the new QR code - so is there any separate line for this or again just back to the long queue?
Thank you in anticipation.

It might NOT be a long queue, actually.
Of course it depends on vagaries such as whether your plane is (unusually ) full, whether the Frontiers Police are on strike, and so on.
Neither was the case when I arrived at Faro nearly a fortnight ago, and the queue to get through passport / Covid docs [ same official, same booth ] control was less than 20 mins. And I was maybe in a halfway point off the plane.
Maybe Lisbon will be even less busy than Faro.

Slightly off subject, sorry, but if travelling by plane from Portugal (as WA resident with QR etc) but within EU, eg to France, does one pass through Passport control, or is it counted as a "domestic" flight, so ID documents are only required for Security, Boarding, ??
And same question for coming back to PT?
Is it "international Departures" you head for?
Any idea of excess time to allow for getting through the airport prior to check-in time - is one hour sufficient lee-way?

No passport control. The airline does check ID, EU Covid Green passport and about 50% check the Passenger Locator form. I have flown to Rome, the Netherlands & Germany and several times this year, into and out of both Lisbon and Faro.

Plus :
Your particular status makes no difference. All passengers on such flights go through or bypass the same channels.

Travelled to UK via schipol 2 weeks ago, border control got very arsey that we didn't have a plastic residence card 🙄 connection flight was 45 minutes after we landed and we managed to catch it ok even after a full documentation check. Our bags missed the connection.

We did on the first leg on the way back to the UK, Amsterdam border control insisted we show residency cert and said that we were illegal overstayers in the eu, I thought our qr residence certs were in our hold baggage, so became a bit of a Mexican stand off with plenty of arguments, eventually a security person was called and we went into a side room to argue our case, just after the guy stamped our passports my wife located our qr bits of paper from sef, and on we proceeded.
Coming back to Portugal no stamps.
