It cost me 600.00Euro two years ago - robbin' barsteward.

Then it had to be notorised - another robbin' barsteward.

But now it's done and I think the grandkids get the lot.

Ugh..can you remember how much the Notary was?...I don't really want to use a lawyer :sneaky:
Was that for both of you?...I just need my husband to do it,as I don't have children.

I don't have the will to hand but I think it was just for me. I'm sure the will is arranged to pass everything onto my wife and then onto the grasping kids (sorry grankids).

The notary fee was about 25Euro ish again I'll have to check.

If my wife reads this she'll check the records - the file is in the top drawer in the garage dear.

================================================== =======

Did it a few months ago at the Notary
Asked for a mirror Will but they said we needed two separate ones.

Just made out a rough copy in english and they re-wrote it correctly in
portuguese. They supplied the two witnesses,

Total cost €380 for both.

There is an official list of charges which you can view on their computer screens. However it is a bit more complicated getting your english version translated into portuguese legal language.

Could have saved maybe €20 by digging up the witnesses myself from the pub next door.

Thanks again

I am sure that I have read somewhere that the law has changed and that a UK will is now recognised within the EU ???

Drag up my posts from 3 years ago and you will see how easy the notary was.

Re: Testament (Will)

We were quoted a flat fee of €400 inc notary by Rui Horta (lawyer) in Tavira. If anyone is interested he also got an accountant to do my wife's family's tax returns following the sale of an old family home near Lisbon.

For what it is worth I understand that the intestate laws in Portugal (dying without a will) mean that it is seriously worth having a will, particularly if you are a couple resident in Portugal with non resident children.

Re: Testament (Will)

The notary in loja de cidadao in Tavira Plaza does sale and purchace contracts much more cheaply than going to a lawyer, so possibly he draws wills up as well, worth asking.

Re: Testament (Will)

Ana senior membre is wrong. There is no notary at Plaza, they can not do the wills, and they dont work as lawyers, they are public servents.
