Default Tax payer representative for UK nationals

FAQ Implications for taxpayer registration after the UK leaves the European Union:
https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.p...ribuintes.aspx

Six month grace period from 1/1/2021 for appointing tax rep:
https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.p..._2020_XXII.pdf

This requirement was mentioned here recently, but now official info can clear up any myths.
Use google translate or bing.

Do NOT depend on google translate or bing as these default to Brazilian Portuguese as these can give imperfect translations of European Portuguese at times.

Note that the quoted information note is not the full story - need to refer to the law:
https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.p...ges/lgt19.aspx

Tony,, my interpretation of that is that if you get one of those CTT thingies you don't need a rep, would you agree or am I being too optimistic?

I know there are a few open threads on this but this appears the most recent.

I have emailed Eurofinesco who kindly replied and they are adamant that yes all Brit non resident property owners will have to appoint one.

The obligation to designate a tax representative or to join the electronic mailbox is not applicable to taxable persons who have joined the public service of electronic notifications associated with the unique digital address, except as provided for legal persons or other legally equivalent entities that cease activity . (Previous No. 12 - Drafting of Rectification Statement No. 06/2018, of February 26)

I'd say they're just touting for business.

Who would have thought it 😂
