Sunday smile
I did like this story…
TAP to change it name so 'Americans can understand what the company does'
Since US financiers & consumers can’t actually equate Transportes Aéreos Portugueses with transport, or an airline, and could think it involves tapping phones or a water tap (behind faucet).
US consumers apparently have an average attention span of 3 seconds (anyone else remember that TV interview with a descendant of Leo Tolstoy who’d produced an abridged version of War & Peace in the US, and when asked why replied they’ve got the attention-span of children?). Anyway, let’s leavethe Happy Prisoners across the Pond - they have another 3 years of Hell – but without doubt 7 without parole.
So, I wondered what other institutions confuse consumers. Here’s my list;
UK
The Highways Agency (we run the motorways)
The Environment Agency (We prevent floods)
Southern (we run trains)
Portugal
A22 toll franchise operator (can’t remember the name – but they do a lovely-line in road works on the N125 too)
Galp (Oil, not brown envelopes OK?)
Algarve’s Environment Agency (House, what house?)
PT (we did comms.)
any others?
