Default solarhart hot water technician - Tavira

Hi, does anyone have a technician for solarhart, solar hot water systems in Tavira or nearby that they would recommend? Our system has started to overheat occasionally. English or Portuguese speaking.

Thanks,

Hi, we have 2 of these systems.
They weren't originally designed to have any temperature control - the hotter and more sun you get the hotter the water gets, simple as that.
this is common to many solar hot water systems and can result in long term problems if you don't regularly use the hot water.
"The newer models have got an optional heat discharge mechanism - but its an optional extra. - below is a quote from the solahart website.
Most J and J Free Heat systems can be installed with the optional HartStat OTP (over temperature protection) system to minimise over performance during periods of higher solar radiation and lower hot water draw off."
Sorry can't help with a local engineer but try

Best of luck

Thanks,
I suggest you to either take hot baths or just let the taps run to get rid of some of the hot water. That is what we do.

Thanks for the replies. Solahart have advised covering the panels and their agent in Faro has a special purpose made cover for €20. Fortunately it is easy to get to the panels.

Our system and others we know of "blew " loosing all the glycol when not used during periods of very hot an sunny weather.
The solution cover if you are away for any time.

Or set the panels at a higher angle, so they get more sun in winter [when they need it] and less in summer.

50 degrees would be good. Many are set at 30 and barely work in winter at all.
