Default Solar electricity panels feed in tariffs

Has anyone here got experience of feed in tariffs for photovoltaic panels and/or self consumption?

Last time I investigated this, there was no feed-in tariff for households in Portugal.

So the 'only' benefit of photovoltaic panels is the saving in usage from the grid?

True for UPAC (self consumption), not for UPP (small producer), but last time I looked the expense of getting set up for UPP wasn't really worth it. Better to look at battery storage to accumulate your generated power

EDP have quite a good simulator and their panel prices are not excessive

Last time I tried the simulator, it limited me to 5 panels (1.5 KW maximum output) and would not allow me to have battery storage. Has the simulator been improved?

I am looking at a property which apparently already has UPP set up and allegedly generates 2000 euros pa income.

Looking for the expertise here to know what questions to ask.

From EDP faqs it may be necessary to pay to change to self-consumption as it needs a smart meter installed and properly parameterized?

I believe 1.5Kw was the old maximum for UPAC, probably why that was the max it would simulate. I think the UPAC max is a fair bit higher now, so if you tell it you have the space and the consumption to merit it then it will go higher. Don't think EDP does battery storage (didn't mean to imply that it would simulate that). But you'll find a number of private companies who are happy to simulate that

This may be relevant, the law changed in 2020. https://www.solarpower.pt/2020/01/01...or-pv-in-2020/

If it's already setup, great, assuming you can take over as is. Maybe this helps https://www.dgeg.gov.pt/pt/areas-set...cao-upp-mp-mn/
