Sky Box/Receiver
This question may have been asked before, we have satellite tv in our apartment and are able to receive the normal channels through an old sky box.
I was wondering are we able to upgrade our box to enable us to record programmes as we do in the uk. Many Thanks Leesam |

Many Thanks Leesam If you have a contract with Sky registered to your UK address then you could bring your Sky+ box (and card) out and it will work. However, if you don't have a contract with Sky then Sky+ (the recording facility) won't work. The Sky box will work but you won't be able to record. Many out here (myself included) have a FreeSat+ box which allows you to record freesat programmes without any contract. I recommend the Humax Foxsat HDR. Please note FreeSat is not the same as FreeView. |

This is so you can record one channel while watching another. A multi LMB is around £30 and the Humax Foxsat HDR is around £250. They are cheaper (and more available) in the UK. |
Re: Sky Box/Receiver
Alternatively, why not just use a video recorder or DVD recorder?

Re: Sky Box/Receiver
Point to note, the programs available on Freesat are not identical to the ones on Sky
So check your favourites are available before going the freesat route http://www.freesat.co.uk/what-you-get/our-channels/ |

Re: Sky Box/Receiver
You will need more than just a dual output LNB (Low Noise Block). You will also require the additional output from the LNB to be cabled to the receiver.

Re: Sky Box/Receiver
Have a look on Amazon UK for the best price for a Humax Fox Freesat receiver. I doubt you can better it.

Re: Sky Box/Receiver
Just found it here http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/pro...-_--_-position for £219.99
If you use the code 5200 when you order you get an extra 5% off too. Enjoy. |
Re: Sky Box/Receiver
You get free P & P with Amazon UK. Now have receiver and its brilliant - gives you close on 300 channels conting the other free but not Freesat channels you can download. Now trying to devise a way to get BBC iPlayer and ITV Player via a VPN on the Internet. Ready for winter then !
