SEF entry requirement

We are flying on Thursday. We got the NHS confirmation letter that we are fully vaccinated. Completed the locator forms and we are now waiting for the Covid test results to come through. Do we need any other forms? Do we need to complete a SEF entry form my blood pressure is rising by the minute... We intend to stay 3 months but we have not yet booked a return flight. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

You don’t need to do the Declaration of Entry form as you are flying in and therefore your entry is ‘declared’ as a matter of course by you passing through passport control. The Declaration of Entry process is in situations where you have entered Pt via an uncontrolled route e.g. an unmanned land border.

Thx for the clarification. It's great to get so much advice from this forum.

So the three months will be 90 days and the first day and the last day count in that total. Still not sure how that counting process works in practice but expect the French police to tot up the total when we leave France after being in the EU for 86 days. Will post when we see Portuguese border controls when we leave after 36 days and enter France on a direct flight.

Re: SEF entry requirement

Good morning , as regards staying for 90 days I take it that you will be traveling to Portugal as tourists thus being required to show paperwork to the effect that you are able to financially support yourselves for the duration of your stay , that you have accommodation in which to stay , and that you have means of returning to your home country ie a return air ticket . Also you must be prepared to submit to a criminal record check . These are PT's official requirements to be able to enter under the Schengen scheme and since they were published I have never been aware of anyone actually being stopped at the airport and asked for the above , however ... I would be very interested to hear how you get on as I am planning to visit in the same manner later in the year . Hope you have a good trip and enjoy your holiday .

Are you sure this is correct for a basic tourist entry? Can you provide the details where you saw this as I would be very interested to read it. Doubt many,if any, tourists know this. That sort of info is .I think ,is required for a visa entry.

Hi toots sweet , the information is , to the best of my knowledge correct , and taken from research I carried out earlier in the year as to whether applying for residency was suitable for my wife and myself or not . I should hate to think I have submitted false info to The Forum and I would stand ready to be corrected . I assembled quite a dossier of information using government agencies and in fact this forum so there will be a couple of threads still running from earlier this year . We decided not to pursue the residency road but are still looking forward to our holidays in our apartment in Portimao . Best wishes and stay safe .

You are talking about this:

https://www.etiasvisa.com/etias-form-application

Which seemingly comes into full effect towards the end of 2022.

So no real need to scare earlier posters to death over something that at this point is not applicable.

HOWEVER, border control are entitled to ask for certain information now, if they so choose, such as whether you have enough funds to live off or whether you have a return ticket. There are loads of countries beyond the EU that have that right too but don't exercise it.

When we arrived in Portugal early last week and passed thru Immigration for an intended long stay in the EU we got our passports stamped with a barely legible stamp (couldn't find it upon first look) and were told in English to enjoy our stay - end of.

Interestingly I found an SEF reporting form online at https://travel.sef.pt/Forms/Default.aspx
It has sections for travel by air, sea and road. Is this what some are looking for?

Update for anyone travelling in or out today. Immigration/SEF strike started this am so get there very early and be patient, massive queues, lots of confusion, etc

The SEF form is a requirement even if travelling by air, if the second Covid vaccination was less than 14 days before travel. 14 days quarantine required. Our form was checked on entry this week and a verbal reminder about isolating.

The SEF Declaration of Entry form is a requirement under the PT immigration law in the circumstances Mac & Mabel describe and has nothing whatsoever to do with the DGS covid declaration form.
Two different forms for two different subjects. The SEF DoE form has been in existence since 2006, long before covid escaped and will likely remain long after covid has been forgotten.

Yes, I was confusing the two forms. We had to fill the SEF travel one in before flying and will have to fill in the one mentioned by the OP when we sail back in from Spain.
