Beware.
For anyone applying (or thinking of applying) for Portuguese citizenship through marriage, the requirements changed in June 2017 to a minimum of FIVE years of marriage before they will consider applications. The Institu dos Registos e do Notariado (IRN) website still (on 14/9/2018) states three years as does the declaracao itself.
As a result of this we've wasted a lot of time as we've only been married four years. And about 1000 Euros in getting translations certified etc and the fees themselves.
Someone has kindly sent a link with pertinent information that is not available anywhere on the IRN website: https://www.plmj.com/xms/files/newsl...tuguesa_EN.pdf
Portuguese bureaucracy remains as pants as ever.
