Default rain + storms

Forecast is for rain all week and next week too.
This is really inconvenient, and I'm terribly happy about it. The first good news in a while actually.

Some periods of heavy winds that might cause damage; could do without that, but so long as it rains I'll be happy to put up with it.

Must have rained last night, the IPMA weather radar stopped working from 0100hrs. They may need some more mastic in places.

Yes, the ipma radar website seems to go down whenever there's significant activity.
But if you google around, you can find other sites that are displaying the data; so it's not the radar that failed, just their system of displaying it.

I agree, when the system stops responding I use a Spanish radar site. Probably too much data modeling for a ZX Spectrum.

Just joking.of course 😉

I found an alternate page; IPMA - Imagens de radar
It's working but loads slower.
It's actually superior, you can zoom in and the map has more location detail.

I don't know if it's new or if it was always there but I never saw it.

I measured 105mm yesterday; that's good rainfall.

I hope we get a break today when we play golf .. but yes it is very good news. This 'bent' weather front coming unexpectedly our way across the Atlantic is doing us lots of favours Now instead of stark headlines about severe drought, If only the powers that be would make it a law that you had to collect rain water on your property.!! They moan when we don't get any rain...but seem to do little about collecting it when it comes. We have three rain barrels attached to a couple of outbuildings. Its a token attempt I know,.but enough to top up our swimming pool every now and again

Also the Spanish weather/ radar overlaps Portugal and may be of use to some of you.

In the last 4 days we had almost as much rain as all of last winter where I live.
It's not been good in much of the country, with damage and flooding.
But in our area we mainly got a lot of the rain we need.

I'm waiting to hear what has happened with the reservoir levels, hopefully there has been significant rise.

I measured 12 inches in my wheel barrow yesterday, and both black buckets I use to cart compost in ,were full almost to the top. The rain barrels have filled up almost halfway again since we topped up the pool only a few days ago. This is an extraordinary amount of rainfall. Hopefully our reservoirs are filling up again. May go up to have a look this weekend .

In September I was seriously concerned for the turtles as I could see the bottom of our barragem - but Compadre Cágado is smarter than that and buried himself in the mud. After all this rain, the barragem is now half full - so good news for them - and us!!
