I am not an architect , but im not daft either.Soft soil built up isnt a good base for founds.

I have been watching the o pomar site come together since before groundbreak....I would be worried if i was buying some of them.

this isnt some guy drumming up negativity here , but at the lower end of the site they built it up with dirt , I have pics.Now the only other site I can think of that did that is considered to be terriblly built with cracks everywhere just up from it in conceicao....do lagar i think its called....owners in some blocks have underground pools for carparks .... calcimites and cracking tiles on faults.

Take a look at the ones being built on the EN125 by the road bridge, they didn't even give it a winter to settle in before they started to build, so you can guess what they will be like after a few years

Near us they dumped a load of rubble and soil over the side of the mountain, leveled it off and are now nearly finishing a super market on the site, All this in less than 6 months. :eek::eek:
How much does a supermarket and stock, and 100 parked cars weigh ?
Do you reckon it will stay in one piece as it slides down to the road below ?

this non "eon" settled earth makes it suseptable to slippage when wet , especially if flash flooding and poor drainage are involved.

Another thing how do portugal developers get passed no disabled acess to apartment complexes , is that not an eu directed building code?

You obviously are not an architect or an engineer and I suggest by the negligence of your statement probably a banker !!
The pile of soil is a stock pile !!
Foundations are to the highestof standards, and furthermore disabled access is in compliance with international standards.
The kind of comments you make are worthy of a court case.

I have watched the devolpment very closely since before the first cut.I know theres water runoff problems there first hand , and its affecting neighbouring property.The estern side of the development will suffer the most from subsidence , and it is already causing problems to the water table and washing out the nearby stream bed.Add to this the way the land was built up unaturally at that end as well.

All the rainwater was soaked up naturally and slowly , then drain off to the local stream gradually through the earth.Now when its monsooning it will go straight to the stream.Over the years before the place was built I watched it raise from a trickle in high periods to a torrent at where they built the sluice now for the dev run off.

Its a problem from the lagar along from it downwards subsidence , its an ancient stream bed , hence why area got the name "canada" , the meeting of streams.The orange grove *opomar* , which was really mostly olive trees , was containing the run off from that land ....why do you think they were there in the first place.

Now I need a young priest and an old priest.

As for disabled acess will there be a lift in every block , no , a wheelchair ramp is enough to be called acess.Most of the property built in portugal thats apts dont meet the standards for "living" there but some do for acess ie a ramp for a visitor.

The stock pile was never removed , but levelled , the road nearby was always 4-6 feet above the level of the land right there.I watched them level it with dozers , rollers and water from damming the nearby stream.Which increased the population of skeeters in that area , which before then I hadnt seen any once before.

and yes I was an engineer for years.
