Re: new start in portugal?
Hello All
My partner and I are due to move to Portugal in October coming. We are selling our UK home and will have sufficent funds, etc. My question is can we get a portuguese mortgage for a house we've seen, without having to get jobs, as financially we won't need to as we intend becoming self-employed, bla bla. Usually they ask for payslips and all that jazz but with leaving uk for good this wouldn't be relevant would it?
A huge thanks fo your anticipated response

You have a portuguese surname, can you speak the lingo?
If you do not have enough money to purchase a property outright, I would suggest you rent first. If however you have the money but want to have a mortgage (say because the investment interest in the UK is better than what you have to pay for the mortgage loan) you might be able to use the investment as guarantee!? In this case you may need specialist advice... Alternativelly, once you have money coming in from work you have a better chance of taking a mortgage.
Boa sorte!

Si, eu falo portuguese tambem! Muito obrigado por o seu responsival. Thanks a million for your response. We won't have anyhting in the UK once we sell but will leave with the dosh from the sale. I was hoping not to work to get the mortgage but if so I guess we will have to at least until we get the mortgage. Cheers again Baltazarsam
