MEO tech support in English
Does anyone know which buttons to press to get to MEO tech support in English?
The regular number jabbers in rapid Portuguese I have no hope of catching. If I wait long enough (1/2 hour) I get someone who puts me on the English waiting list (20 minutes), then they said they had to transfer me again, then they hung up on me.

So;
Got a MEO 4g router, it didn't work well at all, so I called tech support and they sent me another one.
The new one worked great for about 2 days, now it's the same as the first one; pages don't open, or open after a delay. On testing, pings get lost 20-30% of the time.
This is really aggravating.

Are you using Mac or PC?
First check that all the relevant lamps are illuminated on the 4G Router.
Instead of doing a ping, use a trace route command.
Under windows: tracert bbc.co.uk (as an example)
or on the Mac open terminal and type : traceroute bbc.co.uk
This will display all the links between you and the bbc website (if it gets that far) and show where the bottleneck is.
Make sure there are no VPN programs running and only use one network connection, (wired or wifi NOT Both)

Re: MEO tech support in English
I'm pinging the router from my PC on my home network.
I tried from a laptop through wifi and a desktop hardwired with a LAN wire with the same result.
Also I can't open the router http setup page, it half loads and then freezes.
So it has to be the router... I thought.
The new router worked great, super fast like it's supposed to be. Setup pages all open, I only tried the ping test once.
Then 2 days later it's the same as before. Pings get lost, setup page won't load.
Restarted twice.
Restarted the computers too.
I'm thinking a remote firmware upgrade kills them, or I have a virus that eludes my antivirus programs and affects my router.
Oh yeah, another temporary router in the house with a different SIM card on the same network functions just fine. But that router is wifi only and I can't connect my far-flung wired LAN network to it.
I'm going to do a factory reset, then if I can get to the router setup pages maybe I can disable automatic updates.
I'm not optimistic.

Re: MEO tech support in English
What's the make/model if the router? You could always use OpenWRT instead of the stock firmware, in my experience everything runs faster and more reliable than anything the manufacturer ships.

Re: MEO tech support in English
If the router is so bad, it might be sensible to invest in a new one yourself. There are a few which support WAN/LAN as well as WiFi.
Check the location of your router also, and do a check for other sources of interference such as TV, radio, DECT phones, neighbors WiFi, microwave etc.

Re: MEO tech support in English
I tried to update to openWRT, but the router does not have any possibility to reflash that I could find.
Company website provides no info.
I reset it and disabled auto update; at the moment it works again.
It could be getting scrambled by connected devices. I disconnected one remote access point with a security camera on it. The last router (DSL before that service was stopped) had no trouble and I plugged in the same LAN cables to the new one(s).
If I was sure buying a router would solve the problem, I would lay down my money for one.

Re: MEO tech support in English
Current theory is that the problem is caused by Utorrent.
With that program closed, the system is working properly; but the error was always intermittent so I won't be sure for a while.
If that is confirmed as the cause, I'll try to find a solution to it.
