Re: Intelsat 907?
When I last lost the signal, it turned out to be a bad coax cable connection into the satellite receiver. How it suddenly became bad I don't know because there was no movement to force a bad connection. Anyway, I remade the connection and all was well.

Intel 907 - is this the one that still works and provides Freesat channels even in the Algarve ?
If so - what size dish needed for good reception please ? And any other useful info such as where to obtain the necessary kit / competent installer ?

Re: Intelsat 907?
This morning it's working again; strange.
I have a double LNB and 2 coax cables to 2 tuners [in one box]. both showed zero signal.
907 is a feed for BBC and a couple of random other channels.
Aside from last night it's always worked well, but since it has no known commercial application, it could just switch off at any time.
I had a big dish and programmable box left after Astra cut our signal, so my cost was zero. Setup wasn't easy because the signal is encrypted.
I'm not sure it's worth the cost of installation if you have to buy the gear and pay someone to set it up.

Re: Intelsat 907?
My 2 satellite receivers cost £70 each and my man realigned my old dish for €40. I think it is well worth the cost as I get all the TV channels I want in HD at the touch of a button on the remote control.

Intelsat 907 was launched in 2003 with a lifespan of 12 years. Yes it is still working fine, but for how long?

Re: Intelsat 907?
We have a 1.5 metre dish but I think 1.2 or so should be OK.
We found Marc Electronica in Portimao to be good.

Re: Intelsat 907?
The signal is very much stronger than SKY and even a 90cm dish would work - plenty of old ones of all sizes knocking about now. Best receiver in my opinion is the Technosat and Amazon have them. The dish needs to be fipped towards the west (about as far west of south as the Astra satellites are east of south if that makes sense). As everyone else says its a bit of a gamble as to how long this particular service stays working but while it does the service is fantastic

Mr Bife could you be more specific as to the model etc ie exactly what should I be looking for on Amazon ( or in the satellite / elecctricals stores ? ).
Are you saying that with just this one box - technosat - and one dish one metre diam I would get BBC channels plus some others ? And with no ongoing costs once the two things had been purchased ?
If so, can you or someone recommend a tried and trusted and reasonably priced installer in the East Algarve please ?

Hello.
Is there some reason you have TWO sat receivers ? One for the 907 ? and then what is the other one for ?
Can you provide full details of your Man in PM ?
Would he be able to do a complete install of a new system : dish / receiver / cables and what do you think would be his likely charge ? Would he be able to source the best receiver ?
Thanks.
