I'd definitely look to working for myself if I was there. The local wages, especially in the Algarve which has traditionally had terrible wages, are very low.

haa haa only one or two vinho tintos
well thats good news to hear [hairdressing] I specialised in cutting and colouring but what would worry me is not being able to get staff, that nearly killed me at times when I had my shop here - typical saturday in my salon, anything from 14 - 20 clients

I meant 14 - 20 clients booked with me alone - I burnt myself out because a lot of time I was struggling to get good qualified staff

sorry cleri - was just going on nomads character reference of you
well, cleri I am beginning to think that to live and settle in Tavira may have to be at the further end of my dream, I need to look at central & west Algarve for better business prospects just to get some decent money behind us first - these are things I will be researching in depth first

Oh yes, I booked the tickets today and further more hubby will be joining me for the last 5 days, i phoned porta nova up and said I have booked a single room for 3 weeks blaa blaa and how much for hubby to share with me for last 5 days and he said ...................wait for it ...............
7 Euros per day for breakfast I nearly bit his arm off through the phone, so I got 3 weeks + a few days, flights + B & B in a 4 star for all under £280.00 & hubby only has to pay 7 euro a day + flight ..............i need to see the place in winter, thats another reason for going in Jan
