Default Housesitting

Does anyone have a place in the Algarve that will is/will be left unattended? We are a mature couple looking for a house sitting placement. We will look after your property, and animals if necessary, whilst you are away or if you want us to show folks around if the place is for sale (and you have moved out). Failing that, a reasonably-priced long let would be great. We will be driving down to the Algarve on or around October 6th...hoping to stay for several months. We are experienced house sitters/renters and will keep your place looking and running in excellent condition. Thank you!

We are looking for a house-sitter and dog-minder for only a short period over Christmas (22-31 December). I don't suppose that is long enough for you?

Thank you for your reply, BillBullock. Yes, we are really looking for a longer term house sit. Do keep us in mind, though, if you ever need someone for longer....

Are you still looking? My partner and I might be able to do it. (Our home is in Porto.)

Pleased you've found a house sitter for the period you need, Bill. Sri Pete, we are in Albufeira at the moment where it is very sunny and warm. Unfortunately, Porto is a long way from where we are and I'm betting it's not so warm as here, the main reason that we've come to the Algarve. Many thanks for thinking about us, though.

Perhaps run an advert offering yourselves as 'Caretakers' in the East Algarve magazine with a detailed list of your skills and what your are looking for. Our friends did and got several responses each one with a pretty cottage to live-in on very lovely estates. Several variations were offered of part-time work-in-trade for accommodation and in one case even a bit of cash and a car were included. Not bad for a bit of care for the land, gardens, house etc. Most of the estates also employed their own gardeners and housekeepers so the 'Caretakers' actually did a wee bit of everything, not just one job and it includes protecting the property. Just a thought......

Your welcome. I think using the word Caretaker vs House-sitter may be more interesting for some owners; especially if you have verifiable skills such as: electrician, plumber, cook, gardener (not just "I love gardening" but true gardening knowledge), skills that would be typically needed to manage an estate or villa and naturally offer relevant references.

Sign up with Trusted Housesitters , we did 2 years ago and have now sold up our house and 'sit' full time all over Europe... This included 6 months in the Loire and 3 months in southern Spain , both of which have rebooked us for the following season!
Who needs to own a house and pay all those bills !!
