Sorry, yes, you're correct.

Although I have read anecdotal evidence on here of people from a Schengen visa waiver country extending their 90 day allowance by applying at SEF and paying a fee for a visa to cover extra time, which might make it a possibility for anyone interested, if nothing else suitable applies

I mentioned many months ago that there is a way to extend the 90 days (some Canadian retirees do it every year with a small charge of €80, but you do need to have Health Insurance in place. But I belive that Canadians do need a Visa in the first place, there seemed some doubt with a country that does not need a Visa at all ie UK)

Canadian passport holders can travel to around 183 countries, including the entire European Onion, without a visa applied for in advance (some countries require Electronic Travel Authorization, and some you can just pay for a visa on arrival).

So whatever Canadian visitors can do to extend their stay in Portugal beyond 90 days, it is likely that British visitors will also be able to do after 1.1.21.

There is no need to guess anything or rely on Wikipedia.
Its all in black and white on SEF website in English: https://imigrante.sef.pt/en/prorrogar-permanencia/

So given that one is a UK resident with a property in Portugal, considering UK national will not need a Visa to visit any EU countries after Brexit, I assume from the SEF site that we could apply to stay longer than 90 days but only in Portugal using the Short Stay and Visa waiver form?

Reading that I cannot see anywhere where it mentions health care whilst in Portugal.
Would that mean that one would be covered by the Portuguese NHS ?

ah no i see on the application form it mentions Health Insurance, so private insurance is required.
been calling SEF albufeira all day, to arrange an appointment to try to get this all fully understood, but as usual, no one answers

Following no joy phoning SEF Albufeira, i called the general number on the SEF website.......brilliant, a message telling you to go to the SEF website, where you have just come from.
As usual complete waste of time
