High Pollen

Hi
Can anyone recommend a good hay fever/antihistamine tablet that I can buy here in the Algarve?
The high pollen in the air is causing havoc with my eyes and nose!
Thank You

I am not in Portugal but look for Allegra or in its generic form (fexofenadine) I use this for allergies and it works very well.

Kestine; I don't know if you can buy it without a prescription though.

Actifed. I have used it for years, recommended by Farmacia.

We had to leave despite being on high dose of fexofenadine which you can buy in pharmacy. Symptoms were too bad

It is bad this year I think. I've not suffered hayfever before to my knowledge, but a few weeks ago when there was a spell of windy weather I think i got my first attack of runny nose and eyes, scratchy throat and then a cough. I've put it down to the grass pollen .I've never seen the grasses so strong and high as this year judging by our garden. They are tough and nasty and spiky and very hard to get rid of. Seeds(and I suppose the pollen)floating all over the place. Still not seen the back of the hayfever even now.

I would normally have a teaspoon of very local honey on a daily basis.

Sadly, none available until next month and we have both really, really suffered this year.

Husband take Bilaxten, but being asthmatic, I prefer the other route.

If you can tolerate the sneezing, you can avoid swallowing anti-histamines which have side effects, and relieve itchy eyes with sodium cromoglicate eye-drops (e.g. Ophtacalm 2% by Bausch+Lomb), which don't need a prescription any more (at least in France). Courage! It can't last long....
