Hi,

Hi,

Just joined, and said hello in the main forum but thought I'd do the same here. Me and Mrs Hairy feet are back over in June/Sept/Oct on another house hunting trip(s), the intention to buy later this year and then make it our permanent home early next year.

We're stuck between choosing somewhere on the Algarve, or going further north around Sao Martinho. We want somewhere that isn't too touristy but equally somewhere that language won't be too much of a problem till we get the hang of it - and boy, are we finding it a tough language to get the hang of.

Dare say we'll be pestering you with questions in the coming months - apologies in advance.

Regards,

Brian & Barbara (b&b)

don't get too worried about the langauge as it will get easier when you are here using it daily so don't expect to learn much while in the UK!
So pester away & for gods sake....wax your feet before you move!;)

Re: Hi,

Hi Hairy feet, and welcome
We have now been here 1 whole year so , are still portugal virgins .
But we ended up settling in a small portuguese town , that is in between the tourist towns in the algarve , it is great we have the best of both worlds, and have to practice our portuguese in the town . and we are making friends with the locals.
the Algarve does change overnight in the summer season though, roads are much busier, it is harder to find a parking space, and you get stuck behind those tourist that don't know where they are going  we were all one once .
And of course the shops and beaches are busy, and you can't take your dog on the beach.
But having said all that , I would not change it .
we love it
My advice to you if you are not sure where you want to be , would be to rent for 6 months or so 1st , kind of try before you by
