Hi

Those of use who live in Portugal all seem to think where they live is the best. How about letting use know where about you are interested in after all Portugal is a big country.

If it's to be a holiday home, I guess you probably need to be reasonably close to one of the international airports so that'll mean Faro, Lisbon or Porto. but if you're happy to travel a fair distance after you land then you have plenty of choices including but not restricted to the inland areas which have far fewer (summer) tourists than the coastal areas.

As an example, we're close to Figueiro Dos Vinhos which is about 2-2 1/2 hours from Lisbon, 1 1/2 - 2 hours from Porto, 15 minutes from the Zezere River & has beautiful scenery & no end of river beaches etc.

Probably one of the first questions you need to ask yourself is do you want touristy areas & beaches etc or do you want mountains, river beaches & a quieter area......... and often lower prices?

I just love Viana do Castelo. Live in the old city center. Not too hot in summer.
Don't need a car. Rail station near town. Hospital very close to town. Market at your doorstep as is supermarkets.
My dream will come true next month.

And I love living where we are:)

10 minutes walk from the very safe beach, two train stations, supermarkets, great and cheap resturants, brill chemists (had to use them a lot:eek:) and lovely people.

I could go on, but you make your own mind up where you want and what you want.

We're always happy to help

Don't you just hate it when someone joins this site, posts something then does not bother to come back and read your input? Lol happens way too often!

Had a bad night Ged? But all too true, I think if you take from this site you should give a bit back if you can. There was a bloke a while back, you know who, who asked a hundred questions then decided he didn't like the British after all!!

Yes, and he has posted exactly the same question on the Canada and Malta forums. He hasn't returned to either of those forums either.
