Furniture Packs
I am in the process of furnishing our 3 bed villa. At the moment it is totally empty and we will hopefully be renting it out. Until now I hadn't considered furniture packs but would welcome anyones views on these. We are located Sao Bras. Does anyone know of any firms they can recommend or is it easier to kit it out yourself.

Furniture packs are a good short term solution but we found ourselves replacing it all. Long term they will cost you more, unless it's for the rental market.

Re: Furniture Packs
Many thanks for that,we originally thought we would do everything through Ikea, then furniture packs seem to sound a quicker idea, but you've helped me make up my mind and I will stick with the original plan. Thankyou very much.

Re: Furniture Packs
Surely it depends on the furniture pack you buy?!
Why not speak to a few people first about what is involved.
Try Rob Justice at Frontera. He has 2 shops, one in Ayemonte and the other in Almancil. http://www.furniturefrontera.com/
Or Steve at Tavira Auction who also does furniture packs.

Re: Furniture Packs
The house we are renting has been totally kitted out from Ikea and it's perfectly servicable and fit for purpose.
I would be worried spending more money for it to be trashed by tourists.

Re: Furniture Packs
It sounds like fun to buy it all at Ikea, but it really is quite a daunting task. Then you have to get it all to your villa, unload, unpack and so on.
Rob and his colleagues at Frontera know what they are doing and can be a great help, not just with the furniture, but afterwards with lots of other things, including recommendations for cleaners, plumbers, etc.
If you buy cheap you will be replacing it quicker than you expect. Better to pay extra and go for medium price range from Frontera (especially on larger pieces, beds, etc.,). Then have fun buying bits and pieces whilst the boring stuff is taken care of by the people who know.
We had Frontera do it all for us and we are very pleased with the service and furniture.

I agree - contact Rob Justice at Frontera. I've not bought any furniture packages from him but we have worked for the same clients in the past and he is very helpful.

Re: Furniture Packs
It all depends on how much time you have to shop around. If you are in Portugal for long periods and can afford to look around I am sure you could furnish a villa to your taste and cost. If you haven't the time then property owners do use companies that provide furniture packs and at the moment there are many in Spain as well that are doing some good deals.
Maybe it would be a good idea to compare the both. And IKEA is not a bad option when you take in overall costs.

Sharon B,
I contacted Rob and he confirms that the Frontera shop in Ayamonte is definitely not closing.

Re: Furniture Packs
Why not try Absolute down in Ayamonte behind Barclays bank.
You can find them on the internet.
Well worth giving Tom or Martin a call....even if you just want to compare prices.
This may help http://www.absolutefurniturepacks.co.uk/
