Digital nomads - visa for Portugal?

So Portugal is trying to encourage non EU/EEA people to move to PT and legally set up as digital nomads working inside PT for foreign-based companies/clients ... here is a link (no timescale on it yet but hope may be on the horizon)

The last paragraph of that report is;

"However, authorities in Portugal have not provided detailed information, such as the launching date of the digital nomad visa or the wage requirements."

They didn't look very hard to find info on it.

The law that introduced digital nomad visas came into effect 26th August 2022, and a regulatory decree was published on 30th September which comes into effect 30th October. That regulatory decree specifies the income requirements, as it's based on the PT minimum wage (currently €705 a month) it works out at €940 a month.
Comprovativo de rendimentos médios mensais auferidos no exercício de atividade profissional subordinada ou independente nos últimos três meses de valor mínimo equivalente a quatro remunerações mínimas mensais garantidas;

Hmmm

Maybe I am having a slow day but not sure how that is any different to the current set up bearing in mind you can currently satisfy the requirements of the D7 with an income stream working for a uk employer or freelance....

Just because Portugal is ok with you working for your uk employer whilst in Portugal doesnt mean your uk employer is ok with it, suspect this is where 95% of cases will fail.

I think it's a matter of making it explicit and imposing some different conditions for qualifying, as opposed to dishing out visas ostensibly for people with passive income or equivalent means to people intending to be actively working here, albeit for employers / clients based elsewhere.
