Does anyone have a recommendation for a good optometrist in or near Tavira?

I simply don't believe, you all have 20/20 vision!

Not one recommendation, despite 88 views?

I know a good optician in Tavira but not what you are asking for - unless it's the same.

No 20/20 vision, but don't live in Tavira and haven't needed an optometrist.

Thanks. I occasionally (this last week) have floating black spots if I look to the left and back again. I have a bad head cold, so unsure if it's something to do with that as my sinuses and ears are blocked an eyes are suffering the usual issues when I have a head cold. I'm thinking if this continues beyond the next week, I will have to go.

A few years ago, I noticed I had flashing at the side of one eye, at the same time I developed floaters. I don't think floaters on their own are too dangerous, but flashing in the eyes, usually I saw them in the dark, can result in a detached retina. I'm not saying you have this, but be careful with your eyes. The opticians here don't do a check for that, as I understand it, you have to pay to have a test.

Thanks, no flashing, just the spots. Lots of pressure around my eyes at the moment due to the head cold.

It might all stop when your cold has gone. Multi Optica are very good in Tavira Gran Plaza, but they don't do more intiricate tests there, when I mentioned my condition they threw their hands up in horror and told me I have to do tests for that at the hospital! I had the eye ward telephone number at my local hospital in England in case the floaters didn't move, that's a bad sign. They are not just spots though like yours.

Thanks Bons. I think it is the head cold causing the problem.

I had something similar a few weeks ago, get it looked at by an opthalmologist, its most likely a small tear in the retina, and your brain will adjust and filter most of the floaters out. But you must have someone look into it in case it's the start of a retina detachment.

I paid only 83e for a private appointment with an opthalmologist at cuf
