Changing Weather Patterns
Greetings from a cloudy UK.
As many of you will know, the UK has had its second lousy summer - global warming is evident. My wife and I are contemplating a retirement to Madeira ( maybe silver coast) but can any kind soul confirm if the weather in these two areas has changed over the last five/ten years. The move to Madeira would be naturally to enjoy great weather 12 months of the year but that is the historical situation. As Bob Dylan said ....Times they are a changing.......but has that happened to the weather in Madeira or Lisbon yet? warm regards |
Re: Changing Weather Patterns
I've only been near Lisbon for a year (previously Algarve)
According to my local village peeps, the weather pattern has changed alot. We had a much longer winter than normal (still had to use heat in May.....a little in June ) we have had some good weather but nowhere near as hot as last year, but I,m told the winters are getting milder too. In the "old" days it was very cold here in Winter and very hot in Summer,it seems to be more temperate now. |

Bob Dylan also said 'A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall' - not to mention 'Blowing in the Wind' ...

Re: Changing Weather Patterns
In the Lisbon area rain fall seems to be decreasing, and winter seem to be milder..., so much so that we now use 1/3 of the wood in our fire place, but is the rain that I miss more...

How can we tell what lies we're being told about weather patterns? |
Re: Changing Weather Patterns
I have lived and worked in Madeira and the weather hasn't changed at all. However if you are considering moving here permanently remember that it is a small island and once you've been round it 10 times it can get boring! In addition its really no place for us older people, what with the hills, the driving etc etc :)
My wife and I are now looking for a place on the mainland because of these reasons. At least in PT main, one can get in a car or even public transport and travel to Spain, France, etc etc. Don't forget that Madeiras initial role was as a prison!:p |
