Camara - CRUE
Hello All,
We are new to the forum and wanted say hello and introduce ourselves. We are a boy and a girl looking to leave the hustle and bustle of city life and relocate to PT, to not just live but enjoy life! It is so encouraging to see so many on the forum that have achieved this already.
We have loads of questions but will post them under specific topics to make the discussion as focused as possible and be able to track the different threads.
CAMARA:
1. Has anyone obtained their Temporary Residency Certificate (Certificado do Registo de Cidadão da UE/ CRUE) before 90 days and which Camara was it with?
2. And did that Camara require Atestado de Residência (obtained at local parish/ Junta de Freguesia) as Proof of Address? Or was rental agreement sufficient. And does the rental agreement have to be notarised?
(FYI, we are British.)
Thank you!

1 yes, Alvaiazere
2 yes, local village Freguesia had to provide Certificate that we were living in their community - small fee (about 4 euros I think, each), which we then took to the Camara in Town. Had notarised rental agreement for 3 months to show, no questions asked ...
Moved 3 months later so had to update to new address and status as home owners.

Do you also have freguesias if you're living in a town?

Freguesia translates roughly as "Parish" so yes, example here in Tavira you have Freguesia de Santa Maria and Santiago which has a slightly different postal code to Tavira centre although in this case all town administration done in Town Hall of Tavira

Re: Camara - CRUE
OK, thanks. I wonder whether in towns and cities this kind of thing is always done at the Camara Municipal?

Re: Camara - CRUE
The registration certificate for EU citizens is always done at the Câmara Municipal of your area of residence.
The Câmara may (but won't necessarily) require you to obtain an attestationto the fact of your living at the address you give from the Junta de Freguesia, which is your most local level of administration, wherever you live.
