Re: Brick Barbeque
We have found some smallcheap wooden/mdf tables which we cement tiles to. The total cost is around 12 euros each. the tiles came from the discount section at leroy merlin.

Ta Best of all, the owner (big guy with glasses) actually makes some of the stuff on site (e.g. BBQs and surrounds) so can make to order, as he did for me. Plus he'll deliver and crane it in if necessary (that stuff is heavy - especially the ovens). Price depends on what you want - the BBQs can comprise base, main section, chimney, cowl, internal fitments - all of which come in many shapes and sizes. But budget a few hundred euros. I bought a BBQ and wood fired oven with matching chimneys and surrounds from him for my new outdoor summer kitchen, and he was very helpful. It was installed by my builders as part of the kitchen project but I bet he would do it, or know someone who could. His wife runs the shop where they also sell ceramic stuff, pottery, rugs, stills and all matter of good stuff. If there's a better place in the East Algarve I have yet to find it. Good luck! PS No connection with the place - just think they have good stuff :) |

Thanks again your information was great

Re: Brick Barbeque
If you're only going to use it a few days a year, ordinary bricks and mortar will do. You only need to use firebricks and fire cement if you are building a commercial barbecue that's going to be used all day every day.

Re: Brick Barbeque
Just a little point (which may or may not help anyone!)
If you build a traditional Algarve-style brick BBQ with a chimney, think carefully about outdoor lighting. If you ever have BBQs late evening it can be really hard to see what you are doing unless you direct light directly inside. It's not something you'd automatically think about, but it's the reason why the brick ones at our family's houses are often ignored in favour of gas or cheap coal BBQs. B |
Re: Brick Barbeque
Plenty of lighting outside thanks but a very good point
