Bomberos Donation
I wish to make a donation to this worthy cause by bank transfer. It will be going from my PT account. Does anyone know where I can get their bank details or pm me with them. Thanks in advance

Re: Bomberos Donation
Nice idea.
I would rather spend my donation on items that the bombeiros need . Go to the supermarket, buy the items and deliver them to my nearest station. Then i would know that they are getting the things they actually want and need ,rather than putting into the hands of people where it might be spent on admin or ,god forbid, frittered away on bureaucracy etc.

I should have mentioned I am not in Portugal. That's what I would have done if I could do.

Again that's what I would have done had I been coming back. The general advice seems not to do a bank transfer so that rules out donating to them. Shame but I am sure your advice is good.

I had a "dig around" & found this , it translate into EN top RH side
https://shifter.sapo.pt/2017/06/como...-os-bombeiros/
You will find that the "crews" fighting the fires are drawn from all over PT & rotated as to give them a rest
So, there may be a"crew" from your area somewhere on the front line !

Perhaps you could transfer the money to someone you trust in PT to buy the stuff and pass it on to the Bombeiros? Friends or family?

That's the line I have been thinking on today. Thanks for the suggestion .

Re: Bomberos Donation
The problem with monetary donations is that it has to go to the general fund, there's a lot of bureaucracy involved.
I also contribute directly; I go to the station and ask what they want / need today.
Sometimes they ask for fruit, other times ham + cheese. Whatever you give this way frees up budget for other things, so it's all good.
Sometimes I take my own fruit to them, especially apples + pears when I have too many. Bombeiros can eat a lot of fruit.

Re: Bomberos Donation
Each Bombeiros station is largely separately funded & you can become a supporter of the Bombeiros station in your area or the area of your choice.
The easiest way to do that from overseas is look on Facebook for the Bombeiros station of your choice & tell them you want to become a supporter of that station........ and I think you need to send them a jpeg passport sized photo.......... Then you pay a minimum of (I think) €20 & you get a supporters card in exchange which I'm told gives you discounts on some services etc.
I've been a supporter of my local station for about 6 years but haven't even bothered to ask what those discounts are. lol!
