Does anyone know who has the best internet in PT ?

ie , Download speeds and monthly download limits ?

Lets say portimao or Olhao

I live 5km from Olhão city centre and ADSL is poor. 2.5Mb download.
No chance of fibre.
No 4G.
Depending on mobile provider 3G is an option but again location is an issue. Where I am; Optimus - No. Vodafone - OK'ish. TMN supposed to be better.
Not an option for me, my walls are too thick!
Satellite internet is way too expensive.

We live in Gozo at to moment and have Fibre 30mb !!!!

Edward its not straight forward here.
I live i the middle of nowhere with ADSL and get 10meg up around .6 /.7 down.
If you have fibre here its some of the best in the world - i think they guarantee 100mb and 200mb is possible

You can search on the packages available and if you know the postcode for where you plan on living do a test for that area.
Zon is one of the other major players here along with a few specialist services aimed at Brits - most of the benefit comes from those if you need a foreign phone package.
One did tell me some remarkable line speeds in spite of the fact that we don't have Fibre, so be wary.

I don't suppose anyone knows which areas have Fiber Optic internet ?

There are at least 2 companies offering fibre optic but generally not yet in anything more than areas of major occupation.

That said, they seem to be improving the situation on a daily basis. We live on the edge of a fairly large village near Figueiro Dos Vinhos and have been told they'll be installing in within the next few weeks...... I'm not holding my breath though!

FWIW, we currently have our deal with MEO and get phone, cable TV & unlimited broadband that currently gives us about 5 Gb for about E45 and they have offered us the same package but with fibre optic at 30Gb for the same price....... we've obviously said yes but haven't heard anything since and it must be 3 or 4 weeks since they offered it to us.

I find them very expensive compared to terrestrial services; of course if you don't have terrestrial access, it's a great option.

We have MEO which has around 12 up and 0.8 down.

We are out near West Coast of Algarve.
