Hi everyone,
I have been doing some research in obtaining a d7 passive income visa.
Financially this is doable for me and a friend but I have a number.of questions i need to get more information on. Mainly to do with income and taxes but others as well.

Would anyone be happy to share an email address with me so I can send a list of questions or able to direct me towards a specialist that could answer these questions.

Hi. If you want to ask forum members questions it's better to do that here rather than asking them for their email address. Not only will you be more likely to get responses, but it also allows other members to chip in if they have something to add or change to the information you're given.

If we are successful in obtaining the D7 visa will we still be able to work in Portugal part or full time

We're in Canada looking at moving back to PT also. We left in 2013.
I've been looking into the same topic. Below is the best one line summary I have found so far:

You cannot officially work in Portugal with the D7 Visa. However, if the main applicant later obtains a residency permit, they can then work in the country.

My understanding so far (please check up on this)
Once you receive your D7 visa, you have 120 days to make the move.
When you initially enter Portugal on a D7 Visa you are a visitor, but not a resident, until you have your residency permit.
When your D7 visa is issued by the embassy in your country, they should, at the same time, provide you with a date and location (in Portugal) to attend your AIMA (formerly SEF) appointment and convert your D7 Visa to a Residency permit. So, clearly, you need to enter Portugal on your D7 Visa before that date.
After your AIMA appointment, your residency card may arrive in the post approx 2-4 weeks. (Don't bank on delivery being within that time frame as I've seen people online experiencing longer than that.)
Then - As a resident you are then permitted to work/be employed or start a business.
