Arganil

Hi to all
My wife and i have just returned from portugal on the hunt for a property, and we were lucky enough to find one close to Arganil village ,can anyone tell me if there is some ex pats located that frequent the village as we will need some work done by either a u.k builder or english speaking builder on the property and our portugese at the moment is basic.
Also some information regarding building materials , kitchens and a central heating fitter, any feed back or information would be great, thanks Ellie and Guy.

Hi Ellie and Guy.

Yes there are plenty of fellow Brits round the area I am just down the road from Arganil Building materials you can go to O-Vasso in Arganil or a builders merchant in Gois i can let you have the name if you need it Locally it's just called the Construction by those who use it. Do you want kitchen units or a kitchen made for you i know a great carpenter who's rates are great.

Building materials i will post prices for a house in my village later actual prices from what i paid. Central heating what size house, how many floors i have a Welsh guy who will know.

Hi Peter,
thanks for the info, the property is ready to move into but we may take a wall down which is a load bearing wall so architect will be needed for that, as for the heating there are two floors so probably eight rads will suffice but info from youre man will come in handy, one other thing i need to change the perimeter fence posts and replace the wire netting as we have two jacks who i know will go a wandering if its not like alctraz lol. Do they sell treated wood for external work,
thanks again best regards Guy

cheers peter very interesting reading, waswondering if a pellet burner was a better option than a traditional log burner maybe the pellet burner for the central heating and a log burner for looks plus for when its not so chilly,we are moving over from malta as its just to busy and we run a very busy air b n b which we will be offering in portugal plus im an ex builder plasterer so maybe a few jobs for some locals ,,we will see, thanks again be lucky regards guy
