Question Antigen test to enter PT

Has anyone seen anything in the media over there to suggest if / when the antigen test might be dropped by PT government for UK arrivals (fully uk vaccinated) ? ....................Coming over 29 September but have not ordered tests yet. No point in ordering if possibility of being dropped !! Probably should have remained in EU .... ha,ha.

I think I read somewhere that the next Portuguese Covid Update was the 23rd September so perhaps something will be announced then with regards to entry.

Looks like they now recognise UK NHS vaccination certificate so no tests required.

Since Brexit, the UK is a third country and it is being widely reported that "The Portuguese authorities have announced that vaccination and recovery certificates issued by third countries will now be recognised under reciprocal conditions". I can't post any links but you will find the reports if you do an internet search.

The visit portugal website (link below) refers to third country (UK is third country) certificates where there is a reciprocal arrangement being accepted. This would suggest that the UK certificate could be used, but it depends whether UK has a reciprocal agreement. And of course, the airline. If they want to see you have had test before boarding then you will have to have one. Ryanair refers you to the visit portugal website as the official government web site and this has a link (www.visitportugal.com/en/node/421175) which takes you to the same place as the link below.

I am flying on Sunday and have already paid for a lateral flow test so I will do it as previously required (just in case) and then update here on Monday as to what Ryanair boarding gate people wanted.

And to add to my original post.............................................. .............The UK government web site states that you do need to take a test before arriving in Portugal. Confusing or what?

I received one of those news alerts yesterday from either the Portugal News or Resident, can't recall which.

Can't find it now but here is another link to the story.

Not confusing at all. The UK do not currently have a reciprocal agreement with Portugal.

I beg to differ. On 28 July the UK Government announced that people fully vaccinated in the USA, EU member states and some other European countries would be able to skip quarantine when entering England from an Amber country, just like those vaccinated in the UK NHS programme. And, from 4 October, England will welcome fully vaccinated travellers from a host of new countries who will be treated like returning fully vaccinated UK travellers. Testing requirements will also be reduced for eligible fully vaccinated travellers, who will no longer need to take a Pre Departure Test when travelling to England from 4am on Monday 4 October. I see that as reciprocal insofar as Portugal at least.

But this discussion is about "Antigen test to enter PT" and the Portuguese regulations are the relevant ones as agreed by UK Gov website. Both sets of regulations are quite clear at the moment.

Surely it doesn't have to be reciprocal. If PT decides to wave the need for a test to enter they can. In this case they are from 1 October as long as you are double vaxxed(inc Uk version with an AZ Pfizer,Moderna,Johnson and Johnson jab) and the certificate includes all relevant info.

I agree the UK gov. info is often confusing.

Thanks Toots, beginning to doubt myself there as there are always people who know better
