When you're talking Android box, are you referring to an issue with KODI?

Yes Kodi, use Phoenix a lot and endless updates which never actually happen. Does not seem to effect quality but curious and want to do something

Interesting article , obviously Kodi limited life on pirated links but not the problem I am trying to address.

We have friends on their 4th IPTV product using KODI, cancelled their Sky subscriptions , they will be very unhappy if this goes the way of previous services.

"This is becoming an epidemic," Kieron Sharp, director general of Fact, told the BBC.
"If you are not paying for Sky, BT or one of the pay-TV providers for your subscription channels, you are clearly in possession of an illegal box."

Dear Mr Sharp, to be blunt, it might just be that people have lives and don't feel subscription channels are needed to fulfil them.

IMO: what an arogant ass mr sharp is

Why should those who pay for subscription services finance those who steal signals.

I have no problems with Sky, BBC etc making it difficult for the free loaders..

No one said they should, it was the arrogance of Mr Sharp who felt if you didn't subscribe you MUST be stealing it instead.

All I did was point out that some peeps are happy with basic TV, or none at all, and therefore his assumption is wrong

You've misread his quote:

"If you are not paying [...] for your subscription channels, you are clearly in possession of an illegal box."

He's not referring to those who don't have any subscription channels, just to those who have them without a subscription.

It would appear that there is no legal way of watching unscrambled Sky UK channels in Portugal. If you pay for a card your contract states that it cannot be used outside of UK/Ireland and if Sky discover that it is being so used then they will cut it off. On the other hand if you use an Android box, or some other device that would be illegal in UK, it is debatable whether or not it is illegal in Portugal when it is being used to watch UK channels, and, as this is a Portugal forum, it is only the Portuguese legality that is an issue.

International copywrite law and broadcasting treaties apply . it is not just a domestic law issue.

You may well be correct but when a similar law was challenged in England regarding the showing of football matches in pubs using foreign broadcasters the courts decided that it wasn't illegal

But it was still stopped.
The BBC has started limiting access to I player and will no doubt introduce further restrictions.
Every few years Sky introduces new cards and boxes and we can expect that these too wili limit general access.
There is too much money to be made from subscriptions and the costs of productions have to to be met by someone.
