I've bought items from Holland, France, and Germany too; but many vendors don't post outside their countries at all and of course there's the lingo hassle as well.

The courier services are all set up using a model from other countries where they use GPS to find the addresses; but for that to work, there has to be a national address database, which Portugal does not have. So they accept parcels without hope of success.

Still, I've almost always received orders lately, despite living in an unnumbered house on an unnamed road.

I don't think delivery troubles have anything to do with the originating country, the problem is your local delivery person.
Some of them actually attempt to do the work, some do not.

And as I always say, make sure your phone number is on the parcel.

If you two start bickering about nonsense again, may your fingertips rot until you can type no more. It's really very boring to look at the columns of mind numbing rubbish, and these days I rarely bother to read or post here anymore because of it.

I was quite surprised to be told my office was closed as I was working in it all day - both day's & on checking post box found it was empty

As from a previous post on this very subject :- They have ALL my contact details i.e. phones to contact myself & e-mail, yet still fail to carry out the task they are paid to do !!!
Just yet again checked GLS WS - Only to find for yesterday
"Office Closed - Left Card in Post Box"
Bloody useless !
I can honestly state that I have NEVER had a delivery GLS was involved in that arrived without a load off grief !
Why Royal Mail continually fail to take any steps to improve this farce is beyond belief !!

Sometimes it takes a while. Sometimes you're on hold for a half hour.
yes, a total pita, but that's what it takes to get your stuff.

Hell's teeth I got it
Up in village getting bread , phone call , GLS where are you ?
Told him to stop in front off the Church & there they where !
Order date 22.07.17 - delivery date 21.08.17 = 30 day's

I have formed an opinion that GLS Caldas have a system off grouping various leading Post Codes together & when the bin is full ,they then get there arse into gear & deliver them.
i.e. mine's 2460
+ 2 guy's in Cab was one a body guard for the other ???

+ Very important point :- Clearly shown on the address label was my Mobile Nº as it always is !

Hi All

I used an email link in a previous reply and the response i have put below. Perhaps everbody who has a problem with GLS does the same and repeats the emails.

Peter

Dear Mr Calder
I'm sorry to hear that you have not been satisfied with the service you have received from GLS. I have asked that someone contacts you about your concerns. I will follow up to ensure that this happens.
Best regards, Andrew

Dear Sir/ Madam
For my business my suppliers use Pharosparcels and UPS deliver between 66 hours and 75 hours. GLS normally take if they deliver take between 22 days to 30 Days. One simple question why are you so well paid and provide such a poor service.

I have also sent an email to one of the address's above.Telling them of the conditions we found when we visited the so called 'offices' of GLS. (an unmarked lockup on an equally obscure Industrial Estate ) Plus the Mickey Mouse set up... we shall see if it does anything

I have just received a reply to the above ,purporting to be from one Andrew Moys. It's in very broken English .He/they were very sorry about the problems ,please could I email him the exact details of the parcel(s) that i had had difficulty with. When they were sent,by whom, and the eventually delivery date..or not.Plus the usual tracking no's etc

Well no I can't Mr Moys, because it was months and months ago ,and I have tried to erase the horror from both my memory and my computer.
So if anyone has a more recent debacle they would like to inform him of ,please feel free to bombard his in box

My OH ordered 3 items from Amazon.es on 25 DEC.(I know it's a bit sad!).Delivery due 8-10 Jan. Yesterday, 28th Dec we got an email saying delivery would be that day.
Well we looked at each other and were about to lay bets if that was going to happen, when lo and behold a GLS van and man arrived ,parcel in hand and duly delivered said parcel with perfect English(obviously reading English scrawled across my forehead..how do they do that?......... and we have a portuguese name).Perfectly packed, and with all 3 items. Right to the door between Sao Martinho do Porto and Nazare.
Can't complain with that!!
Well done Amazon and GLS.

Yet again GLS have not tried to deliver or even notified me of an attempted delivery.

So the xmas pressies still didnt arrive after being sent in November and now I have to sort it out, again. GRRRR!

But I wont even bother with the phone line / GLS money making machine this time. I just wrote to the supplier to ask for a refund and sent them the links below

Google reviews

Facebook reviews

Portugal News Article Comments

(I made one the last time before this)

I also contacted Royal mail directly via email and was assured of action the last time

GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Will use those emails in this thread as well, if only to make myself feel better

EDIT, sent the above links and a complaint email
Immediate auto reply from Andrew Moyes, 'I’ve now left Royal Mail. Please contact [email protected] for any media enquiries.' so sent the links to them too
