I once looked into this matter - I think there are a couple of threads previously if you want to do a search ... However the basics are that under law long-term rental property cannot be restricted in regard to pet owners so often for long term rental you will find no indication as to the owner's preferences. It is only when you get to enquiring about a particular property that the owner (or rental agency on their behalf) will say "and by the way - no pets". Rental is often best done when you are actually here. Air BnB and the other booking agencies (for short term rentals) will indicate if pets are allowed so it may be best to do your initial stay in such accommodation while looking for your long-term rental. From October you should not have too much difficulty finding long-term rental (avoids the complications of the "holiday season") not that there will be much of that this year with Covid! Otherwise if you want to find your long-term BEFORE you come, then find the properties you like the look of and ask each one if they agree to you having a dog before you go further, as it will most often not show up in the adverts ...

Many thanks for the advice unfortunately we cannot go for a short term rental as it stipulates that we must have a 6 month rental agreement or more as part of the D7 Visa.
