To beep or not to beep that was the question, phoned Via Verde to find out and according to them, they are working normal when they do NOT beep.

Ours bleeps at every gantry. Right or wrong? Also when do the 10 free journeys runfrom/to? Calendar month or from the date you registered the transponder? What a stupid system.

Re: A22 Toll Road 15th April
Wife used ours again today on way to airport and her companion held it right up in the middle of the windshield - still no beeps.
Would I be right in saying that even if the transponder doesn't register, our reg is still linked to Via Verde, so when they see our numberplate on the photos they will just add the journey onto our account?
Hopefully it ends up being this simple because the process of actually getting the thing and registering for the positive discrimination 10 free trips thing was all way more straightforward than we expected, so it would be a shame if it doesn't actually work properly!

Maybe if you haven't stuck it to the car the tape blocks it? Maybe the angle of the wind shield behind the passenger side mirror is crucial? Did you go to the multibank machine and activate it?We still don't know if it should or shouldn't bleep!

Definately activated it via MB. First time it was stuck onto the windshield with the sticker. As it didn't beep we removed it and held it against the windshield in the middle and it still didn't beep.
No journeys are showing on the website yet....

More news in Spanish Military rule.
Translated means the Government of Portugal has decided to mobilize its army to enforce security measures and surveillance in the southern highway, the A-22.

The Government knew there would be a fall in the economy after the reports after the tolls were introduced in the North. So they are very very short sighted.

Via Verde has a couple of people working in the city shop in the Gran Plaza mall in Tavira if you need a transponder or to register for your free trips, when you got the transponder and if you signed a paper with " Pedido de Discriminacao Positiva " you have already signed up for the trips. They are also saying that in some circumstances it could take up to 2 or 3 months for the toll money to come out of your account.

In todays PT Press it was written that the Finanças who are responsiable for issuing the "fine's-paper work" for UnPaid Tolls are stuffed full ,they have 1.000's of cases to send out & so many how shall we say " all's up's" to sort out.
There are dozens of staff working on this at the time of the year they would normally be sorting out problems to do with IRS & IRC.
The big problem is unless they sort out the questions to do with IRS & IRC the Tax Payers will not pay because traditionally it takes ages to get it back if you overpay ,NOW catch 22 -+ If you pay late for any reason you get fined!

Why doesn't everybody just forget the transponders and simply not use the A22?
We managed without the A22 for many years before and that might make the franchise holders and Government think again!

Re: A22 Toll Road 15th April
And does ANYONE know when the 10 free journeys are from/to? Calender month? 8 December - 8 Jan? A month from the date you registered the transponder?
