Hi, my husband has over 10 years experience with police scotland and is considering applying. The only thing is our 7 year old Son has ASD and we've been told he would fail the medical part of the visa? Has anyone heard anything about this? Thanks

I don't know for sure but I doubt he would fail the medical with ASD. Im fairly sure they will not allow people into Australia if they will become a financial burden on the tax payer once they arrive. Which you guys won't so don't see how it would be a problem.

Thanks so much for your reply, I saw on the Internet that if the cost of health care or education exceeds the cost allocated on the visa it would fail, he requires supported learning and will more than likely need medication in the future. Someone also advised us of this.

Welcome to BE. As this isn’t a question specific to policing in Oz or the job application, I’d suggest you ask it in the immi section of the Oz forum. That’s where all the visa pros hang out so they should be able to help, they’re not likely to see your question in this thread.

Good luck.

If he was eligible for NDIS then for sure he'd fail the medical.

Do we know how many jobs WA have? I guess that out of that 850, say at least 25/50% come to it wouldn't move for a variety of reasons.

900 over next 5 years. Imagine that’s subject to change should they have a number of additional resignations or local applicants.

900 jobs? Wow, I thought it was less they had to fill about 500 now.
