Transitional Officer from UK to Australia
Hi all
New to this site so please bare with me!
Like 99% of folk on here, my family and I are after moving over to Australia in order to give our children a better future (along with ourselves). I have emailed virtually all the Police Forces all over Australia and the only one recruiting at present is WAPOL, however, 3-7 years service only so can't do that as I have 11 years in. Have any of you got any experience or knowledge of emigrating on your partners visa (wife is a specialist nurse) and applying from the UK when permanent residency has been obtained etc. Seems like a viable option all be it rather expensive - but dreams come at a price I guess!

Re: Transitional Officer from UK to Australia
Hi and welcome.
The WAPol recruiting restrictions of 3-7 years only apply to International recruits. There are none for Transitional. Having a residency permit, through emigrating with you wife, entitles you to apply for any job in Oz, including police forces.
As far as I am aware all Australian forces are recruiting within Australia.
Let me know how you get on as I intend applying through Transitional too.

Re: Transitional Officer from UK to Australia
Just has this back from SAPOL
To qualify for recognition of prior service you must have three years continuous service in the past five years (not including your initial training) at the time of applying for SAPOL. Once you obtain your permanent residency you can then apply for SAPOL from the UK. The process takes several months and you will be required to do all your testing in Adelaide.
