Exclamation For those of you applying to WA police , SA police and other Aussie police services..

It seems that a lot of you prospective Aussie police officers found this forum through Google, and so are unaware of how big British Expats actually is

Just to give you a bit of a helping hand - this is the link to our main Aussie forum, which has thousands of threads on lifestyle on Aus, cost of living, shipping, schools, etc etc.......

http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=54

there are also sub-forums for meet-ups, immigration info and our Barbie forum, for general chat, gossip and off-topic mayhem!

So, best of luck with those applications, and pop in to the rest of the forum when you are stumped with those queries about life on the other side of the world

Exclamation New Visa Application Charges from 1st of July 2013

Another shout out to those of you about to apply after the testing with WA.....

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/new-...ges-1july2013/

This also confirms the introduction of a new per applicant component to the amount to be paid to the Department of Immigration.

This charge will be paid by each additional applicant included in or added to a combined visa application (unless an exemption applies). The amount varies according to the age of the applicant and the visa subclass, and is added to the base application charge.

For subclass 189 and 190 visa applicants the Additional Applicant Charge (AAC) for those aged 18 or over is 50% of the base charge.

The amount for those aged under 18 the AAC is 25% of the base charge.

The proposed visa pricing details from 1st of July 2013 are here:

Well, yes, the increases are steep, though many other countries already charge per person rather than per application. Does make things a bit fairer too - there have been many cases where extended families with dependent parents and siblings have come to Aus for the same fee as a single, unmarried person - this change was bound to come eventually as a result of that, I reckon.
