I have also read through our career break policy. Apparently joining another police force is not in the interest of the Force. A career break shouldn't be used to 'try out' another career. But it should be used if it can benefit the force and the individual - which i would think is exactly what doing a year or two in a totally different social and cultural environment would be.

Hi

I was told last week, that the Sgt's short list will be done btwn this week and next week !

The HR office is very small and if they want 50, it's going to take a while !

Get used to the slower, "Soon Come" pace of Cayman !

Would love to see the stats of the 50 selected, how many are still there after 12 months...

Come to think of it, wonder how many are still there from the recruitment campaign of Summer 2010...?

My guess is not too many, hence the reason for this recruitment drive.

Probably not many. I doubt they will get 50 when career breaks are a thing of the past. RS is the corruption as bad as I've heard it is? That is an issue for me, will they want me back when I've been employed with a corrupt force?

Just be aware that there is no PACE. I like PACE, PACE is black and white.
You know where you stand with PACE, even though you think it's a pain in the A*&%. All you got to do is follow it.

However: Judges Rules + RCIP interpretation = problems....

Don't so much think of the Judges Rules as rules, per se. Think of them more as guidelines. Guidelines which can be stretched, bent, pushed, pulled. Which is the problem.

A friend of mine who re-applied to his home force missed the cut off point for his application because of an outstanding complaint with RCIP.

As it happens it was a nonsense complaint which nothing come of it.

However, the home force was unable to get the relevant info from the RCIP because of their annoying 'soon come' attitude, as a result he lost his chance to rejoin..... Then the cuts took place!

They did say they wanted a start date as soon as possible and asked what the minimum notice I had to give was. They also asked how long I would need to get my affairs in order before the move... Mind you they did say I'd hear in two weeks and my interview was on the 3rd!

Not yet, having a bit of a debate with my line manager and HR. Official force policy is that there are no more career breaks, and unless you've a pretty high sponsor, you certainly wouldn't get one to go and do another police job. I'm just waiting to see if
a, i get offered a post
b, what the renumeration package is
c, what comes of winsdor....
Despite all the negatives I'm still trying to keep positive!
