Hey all. I too was offered a job but again at the entry salary for a new recruit. I was very disappointed as I really would have liked to have gone.

I don't think they will get anyone at this entry pay level. Very disappointing.

Is the pay grade for a new recruit 39? Their website is so out of date

Well I have taken the plunge and accepted the post as I've hopefully managed to secure a career break. Has anyone else accepted? Is there anyone that can give me any tips on accommodation, ideally looking for a house share. Any recommendations or guidance would be gratefully received.

Same here. I didn't think you'd get a career break for this Mattias_2?

Yes, accepted. Medical sorted a while ago. Sent off uniform sizes. Just waiting on a date for flying out so I can sort house etc. I know they've said a start date if 1st May, but is that start work date and we fly a week prior or is that fly out date?

Anyone going with kids? I really wanted to go but couldnt afford it as was only offered 41k which included house allowance. The cheapest 3 bed i saw when looking was about 1500 per month. Which would work out at 18k gone straight away out my wages. The job did say up to 53k and if id been offered more i would have gone. But didnt want to go and be skint, as theres no overtime :(

If you can find a 3 bed for $1500 per month I would guarantee its somewhere you wouldn't want to live. Both geographically and accommodation wise.

$1500 is the going rate for a decent 1 bed in a nice area.

Anyone thinking of it should check out ecaytrade.com for the latest rental prices. Please note, they look a lot better in the pics than in the flesh - so to speak.

Anyone with kids will find it hard for 2 reasons. Government schools are not the best in terms of discipline and learning. Unless it's pre-school, anyone with kids over 5 DO SOME RESEARCH.
Ideally you'd want to sent them to a private school. Thats great if you got a spare $800-$1000 a month. Except you can't pay monthly it's term, so forking out $4000 every term is what you'll have to do.
Another minus is theres always waiting lists!!! You may have to wait more than a term for a place to become available.

$41,000 is do-able for a single person. Also do-able if you have another half working.
You will not save much if anything.

Good luck anyone applying.

hi all, I'm thinking about applying for the new positions that are advertised. Does anyone know if they are permanent or short term contracts as I cant find that anywhere on the website. Also anyone here worked over there before? I would be moving from Ireland with my wife if it happened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've read the previous posts and found them very helpful already
