Hi all,
Thinking of making the move, I have a wife and 2 children under 10, need to know what the schools are like there? Also are all moving costs paid for? How do you arrange accommodation, is it something you gave to do yourself before you arrive? Any information would be greatly appreciated Cheers |

Has anyone currently in the application stage heard anything from RCIPS yet? Still in limbo here!

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Recruiting
Hello all,
I am interested in joining the RCIPS. Has anyone had any luck recently in contacting them or managed to make the move over there? I have tried to contact them (email and phone) but seem to reach dead ends. Can anyone offer any advice/info on their current recruitment drives etc? |
Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Recruiting
There aren't any current recruitment drives. The best thing to do is fill an application form in and it will be kept on file until any future recruitment campaigns.

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Recruiting
Do any current RCIPS officers know of experienced UK officers applying locally in Cayman? They don’t seem to be recruiting overseas officers at the moment. I will likely be moving to Cayman in May/June of this year with my Caymanian partner and I am wondering what my options are. Have yet to hear back from the recruitment team.

Mate, that was the way I got into the RCIP, I was working on island as a dive instructor, I went in, submitted an application form, did an interview, medical, and got a start date. It was actually fairly simple, I guess from the RCIPS perspective an advantage of a situation like this, is they get an experienced officer but don’t have to pay for flights, and all the other things associated with an international recruitment drive. However, this was some time ago, I was there between 2004-2007, and when I applied there were vacancies, but I can’t imagine the principles have changed though. If you get the chance go for it, we have many happy memories of Cayman, it was a once in a lifetime experience 👍

We've just taken a bunch on but those were primarily for specialist posts. As Baz said (Hi Baz) you have the advantage of being a resident shortly. I would wait until you get here and pursue it then. Experienced officer recruitment is a bit more ad hoc now than when Baz was a lad.

Re: Royal Cayman Islands Police Recruiting
My ‘training’ (I use that term loosely), was a couple of days being confused by a Sgt who was tasked to run me through local legislation. That was about it, then I just went out on the road and figured it out for myself. When I was there I found the role far less complex than the role in the UK, or Oz where I am at the moment for that matter, so it was very easy to pick up.
I think I was just shy of five years too (about 4.5), it didn’t make any difference. |
