Hello everyone, please forgive me if I'm repeating old threads. I'm considering applying myself for this, but I have to admit, I found a lot of messages from a recruitment drive in 2011, and it's kind of put me off.

Does anyone know if things have improved in the last 6 years? There was much talk of corruption, and prejudice against white British.

Are there any ex uk cops out there who could offer some advice?

Thanks all.

I looked at the RCIPS website, but it looks like a local recruiting campaign (i.e you need to be Caymanian to apply), as opposed to a lateral entry programme?

Thanks Baz, just checked, and it's a current vacancy on Police Oracle, closing date 31st August.

I cannot tell you specifically about the Cayman's and my info is quite dated but just reading these threads, as I do like you, it seems not much changes. I think you have to balance in your mind why your going e.g., for the experience, maybe its a springboard to something else etc? For example, look at this website where you can read and see the many stories of former UK PC's who made the leap and then their stories all diversify. Many came back after a short period of time. Many went on to do other things - some better some not so.., some stayed a long time and some are still there. Essentially, the story is the same - life is what you make it. I would think it almost a certainty in an island police service that corruption and some resentment of the 'foreign' police officers would occur. But look at your end goal.

Bear in mind Cayman is very very expensive to live in, as someone young in service...... Well 10 years it isn't for me.

More suited to those retires from the UK with pension in hand.

Thanks Jim. I've got 12 in, and a young family. I'm sure I'd need my wife to work to make it viable, but as that's not easy, will have to take plenty of consideration. I've started the ball rolling, but it's a gentle slope, so won't take much stopping if I decide it's not for us.

Hello folks

I've sent my application away and had a confirmation e-mail. 17 years service with a couple of specialist skills. I feel it's now or never with retirement not that long away. Policing in the UK has went downhill with my force having underwent a huge change in the last 4 years. My wife would need to work too but our kids are up and nearly away. No ties at all now. My career development department made the right noises too should it not work out or if it does, then as a rejoiner. If I get that far obviously!

Reasons for applying? A complete change of scenery and lifestyle. You're a long time dead!

I wish you the very best. I was so tempted, but the cost of living scared me if I'm honest. I did apply to our psd for my last 5 years disciplinary history. Unfortunately, instead of the "you're all clear" response I expected, I got a Reg 9 that they've sat on since May, that I knew nothing about! Thanks job, guess this was never an option after all.

Good luck with your application, and please let us all know how you get on.

PSD sitting on a complaint????? Shurely shome mishtake????
Cost of living does look quite prohibitive but i won't have 2 kids with me to empty my fridge! Lots to think about should i get that far but i see they've put out another advert but without the word 'experienced' before it.
