Hi all,

My family are looking to move to Oz in the next 18 months or so (when my wife graduates and has 12 months experience as a nurse) and I am looking for a complete career change.

I am currently in IT sales but havent been happy for a long time. I have always wanted to join the police force and think I would make a good officer. The problem is that I have gotten myself into a situation where financially I could never do it over here. Part of the reason for the move is to change my/our lifestyle as I will probably end up dead from stress/pressure doing what I do!

My question is how easy or difficult is it to join the police force in Oz (probably in the NSW - Sydney area) as a mature person? I will be 36 by that point and am strong/healthy etc but obviously would be starting from scratch.

Also what are the wages like and do they do fastrack career progression type programmes etc?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

suggest that you try contacting wholeworldwindow. She has a thread in the Update forum that you may want to have a look at first. Her OH has joined the police since their move to Oz & is about to finish his training!
