Well done to both of you!

You are now in the same position as me, the background checks!

How long have your background checks been going on then mate as I thought you went out for testing in June when I was initially going out??

Are they calling your references at the moment?

No they have to wait for all five references and the police certificate before they start background - unfortunately my police certificate is taking ages.....

I thought my file manager told me that they can start the background checks whilst the police check and credit check is on order but I may be mistaken.

How long have you been waiting for yours? This may encourage me to get the premium service on mine.

Both. Nige1521 advised me to apply for CRB straight away and he was right. it took mine nearly 3 weeks to arrive!!! The priority service may work, but ultimately, if you are waiting for your credit report(s), may as well used the normal service. The CRB state 7-10 days, but that is from the time it is PROCESSED!??!!?

i went over to EPS, with 5 references and resume in hand. i sent my CRB and credit reports via email and then air mail, so my F.M, should be in possession of them now.

None of my references been contatced yet, but i anticipate, this will be done imminently, as my F.M was on leave until recently!

All, can i say this is probably the greatest yet nervous undertaking i have ever subjected myself too and i am quite excited by it all too.
My second son was born on 21st August and i'm hoping to give him and my 6 year old, a far better chance in life and greater opportunities than there are here!!!!

Best wishes to you all

I may as well use the premium service for £70 then as what is £35 difference in the grand scheme of things. I assumed that the credit check can be done online and then simply printed out. Surely this will be sufficient?

Tim, i used the online one and printed it. However, it takes about 5-7 days for the pin number to be posted, whereas you can pay £2 and have the C.R delivered in 2-3!!!!

Can someone confirm what check I need. I assumed I simply needed the £35 or £70 ACPO police check but are you referring to a CRB check above?

Thats what I thought and my file manager has just got back to me and said that the ACPO check is what they need. I'm posting that tomorrow after getting the photo signed at work and the credit check is in process.

Just need to start hassling people for written references and I'm good to go to background checks.

Apologies for the above post, which on reflection is confusing.

The ACRO check is £35 and you can either apply online for your credit report or pay £2 and have it delivered. The downside to applying online is that you have to wait for them to send you a pin number, which took about 6 days to arrive in my case!!!! Plus side, it's free!!!
