I think the alcohol thing is to prove you're not a raging Alcky, if your reading is 0, as an alcky you would be very ill or worse !
Most Alcky's will always have some alcohol in their system.

If you look at the example results it shows alcohol on the list. My doc said the test does not require a blood test. I bought a drug and alcohol test online and my doc conducted it for me and signed of on it. He has now ordered a specialist to come in to do the breathing test. I have all the other documents now so I'm emailing them off tomorrow

I got mine from homehealthuk.com. Total about £15 delivered the next day too. My Dr, the so called medical expert, wouldn't do it as
"I don't know how to do that"
All that time at University and he doesn't know how to dip sample piss.

I truly despair.

Guys with certifying copies etc, is it ok to get an inspector to sign them and put a police stamp on them?

I got a colleague to initial each page and included a signed letter from them to say they were true and accurate copies. I also included a signed photocopy of rheir warrant card to prove their position. Didn't have any issues with any of it.

Had an email from PHC this morning, contained a full copy of the medical and urine test results - all clear. Reading through it, the only oversight by the Dr was that he has failed to circle that my vision fields were normal. With any luck WAPol will have the eye test I had done for the entrance exam and will see all is fine, or at least mail the Dr to ask him to confirm.

Police certificate also received back this morning, posted last Friday, so a pretty quick turn around.

My only concern is that I had an arthroscopy on my left knee in 2008 to remove some torn cartilage. I passed a firearms fitness test less than 3 months after the op, and have passed every one since, so have no problems with it at all. I also had some back pain treated by an osteopath in 2010, but again, this was a one off and had no problems since. Hopefully they won't think I'm old and falling apart!
Anyone else had any ops that they've disclosed?

Just waiting for the DVLA paperwork to arrive before I get it all certified and mailed across.

Gregster i just filled in the medical this morning. I've had the following

1995 Broken ankle pins Inserted/removed
1996 broken leg pins Inserted/removed
2000 broken wrist
2007 lower back strain

I have fully recovered from all these injuries and have subsequently passed the medical to join the police up here in Scotland

Like yourself i am nervous that they think i'm falling apart. even more so now im typing this.

Ironically i feel fitter now than when i received all these injuries.

Christ Harry, you are falling apart!!!

That makes me feel better about my minor procedures!

Like you, I'm probably fitter now than I was then.

To be fair the leg and ankle were football injuries and just one if these things that happen when you fail to realise you cant really win a 70/30 tackle. The wrist was an injury in a factory I worked due to shoddy equipment.

And to be doubly fair the breaks were 17 years ago.
Glad I'm making you feel better ( whos making me feel better though )

All done! Done my medical on Monday and had the doctor email the scanned docs and gave him money and envelope with address ready (lol) to post my originals.

I have completed the other certificates as well and had them certified and once I'm back home, I will email the certified copies of all documents with a question if hard copies need to be mailed.

So now back to the waiting game.

I was told by recruitment that they take the medical forms they receive to their occupation health worker every Monday once a week so hopefully in couple of weeks I will know!

The only issue I had is that my doctor fluffed my Spirometry and didn't explain it well making my results a bit iffy so I may have to redo the spiro at work or something. Recuritment people said that if there are any issues they wouldn't just cross you out but rather send for furter testing so if you are concerened about your medical - don't be! It seems they will give you opportunity to do further examination if there are any issues (including the eyesight for some people).

Good luck
