Re: HELP

What 5 yr visa please?
What you need to do depends on what visa/permit you have applied for or under.

Coming to New Zealand to work within the trade.

If you are happy to be directly supervised at all times and have all your work signed off then once you have a job offer you and the employer can apply for a PGDB limited license.
This will allow you to work under supervision .
You cannot work by yourself and all your work must be inspected by a registered/craftsman and then signed off.
Rather similar to an apprentice or a labourer.

As stated above, if this is enough or not will depend on your visa/permit circumstances.
Certainly if you want some freedom to work as a qualified tradesman within the trade then you will need to have your overseas quals assessed and complete the course.

This means a pre-assessment by the PGDB and if they are happy with what they see, it then means a week of practicals and written exams.

Re: HELP

It depends.

What is your current plumber/gasfitting trade status in Australia ?

Please read THIS LINK

If the PGDB are not happy with the quals despite the trans tasman agreement , they may require you do THIS

Anyway, if you can find a job , you can certainly start to work under a PGDB limited licence.
What you cannot do is become self-employed until you are an NZ craftsman plumber/gasfitter.

Please do contact the PGDB for more direct information.

Also, it would be lovely to see you on our NZ forum here at BE.

ps
Husband is a plumber !

Ok.

My advice is about becoming registered in New Zealand, not Australia. Their rules are different and vary from state to state.
