I got my first UK photo license two months ago.
Took less than 2 weeks. Applied online. No charge. Sent to my UK address.
They asked that I cut up my paper license and return to them but I forgot and haven't received anything from DVLA about that.
No expiry date on the license.
Union flag on RHS of the front of the license.
European flag, with the circle of stars on LHS of front of license.
Dunno if the license will have to be changed March 29 next year.

ex reg. Have you checked item 4b on your licence? Also the date on your portrait.
